Assuming you have a blank t-shirt and a design ready to print, you'll need a few supplies before you can get started. Direct to garment printing, or DTG printing, is a process of printing on textiles using inkjet technology. The ink is absorbed by the fibers of the garment, resulting in a durable print.

To get started, you'll need a DTG printer, ink, and pre-treatment solution. DTG printers are designed specifically for textile printing and can be quite expensive. The inks used in DTG printers are also proprietary, so you'll need to purchase those from the same manufacturer as your printer. Pre-treatment solution is used to prime the fabric for printing and helps the inks adhere to the fabric better.

Once you have your supplies, you're ready to start printing! The first step is to pre-treat your garment. This is done by applying the pre-treatment solution to the area you'll be printing on. The solution needs to be completely dry before you can move on to the next step.

Now you're ready to load your garment into the printer. Most DTG printers have a platen, or a flat surface, that the garment is laid on. The printer will then lower down onto the garment and print your design. The printing process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the complexity of your design.

Once your garment is printed, you'll need to cure the ink. This is usually done with a commercial garment steamer or by hanging your garment in a warm, dry place. The heat helps set the ink into the fabric, making it more durable.
